When we say it, we mean it……we are simply living from the ground up! We are the Christensen 5; 4 wild and crazy boys (husband included) and the mama that tries to hold it all together. We were a typical suburban family that had a garden we loved. Somehow the love and hope for more crept into our hearts…..more produce, animals, and land! We moved around a lot for a great company and ended up in North Dakota where we got our first taste of homesteading. We joke that we were modern day pioneers raising our boys and food in the wild frontier, the cold, frozen plains of a place that felt simple, open. Honestly, it was everything we could have hoped for. Another move came out of the blue and has transplanted this family to Texas. We have bought our very own homestead and there is a ton of work to do transforming this home and land into what we envision: a place where we can grow our skills, raise our boys (and ourselves) on hard work and farm, fresh food, where modern life can remember the values of the past and where we can simply live. We hope that you join us as we start from the ground up!

Ok, so I wrote this as we were setting up the blog and its absolutely true; BUT, it sounds more magical than day to day life really is. We are making this dream work on less land, less money and less time than we would want. And another BUT, but that is what makes it our story and what we can share. It has taken me a few months to choose to dedicate myself to this, to share our story…….How are we homesteading on little acreage 1.5 acres little, and building each piece a step at a time and redesigning every other day as we learn more about this land that we bought. We know what we know and are learning what we can and we love it. Thats the point, its a life worth loving and therfore worth sharing.  We want to share inspirations for you of how to live simpler and enjoy more…more of the good stuff, the stuff that seems to be getting lost in this busy, modern world. So whether you homestead or not, think we are nuts (we are) we hope that you will still be able to check in with us and find something useful to YOU no matter your circumstance and ya know what, even if the article doesn’t seem to fit your life, guess what, there’s probably a really good story in it anyways that you might just laugh at or nod along with so…..once again yes, we are still…..growing from the ground up!
